Steadfast Love

For your steadfast love is before my eyes, and I walk in your faithfulness. Psalm 26:3

Reading through the Psalms I have encountered the phrase, steadfast love, again and again. In fact, this phrase occurs more than a hundred times in the Psalms.

The Psalms attributed to David have lament, thanksgiving and then praise. David suffered during the years he was pursued by Saul. He was human, and his sins brought painful consequences. Yet he always returned to trust in God, mentioning God’s steadfast love.

When I watched an interview with a young man who had been injured by a vaccine, I was reminded of words in the Psalms. This young man had lost control of his muscles in a downward spiral after receiving the covid vaccine. He was in a wheelchair.

When the interviewer asked him what he would like people to know, he explained his faith in God. He said that God is still in control. He trusts in God’s sovereignty.

During times of great difficulty God can give an extra measure of grace, the ability to experience steadfast love. God hears us when we cry out to him.

I will rejoice and be glad in your steadfast love, because you have seen my affliction;
you have known the distress of my soul
.  Psalm 31:7

How precious is your steadfast love, O God!
The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings
. Psalm 36:7

  1. What a beautiful word! I think we need His steadfast love because we sometimes get it from others. I love that scripture. God does see us, and knows all we good through. Thanks for writing! Be blessed. Love, Gina
