It has been a number of years since I sat in the Michigan stadium in Ann Arbor, but I still follow the football team of my alma mater. Last Saturday the game was tense. The Wolverines were losing to Illinois when I set the TV to record the remainder of the game. I was going to a memorial service.
The service celebrated the life of a woman of faith. She had lived her life trusting Jesus and ministering to others. She loved to sing. One of her favorite hymns was Because He Lives, a worship song written and sung by Bill and Gloria Gaither.
When I returned home, I wondered if I should watch the remainder of the game that I recorded. I asked my husband if he knew how it ended. I didn’t want to look up the final score. He encouraged me to watch it. “I think you will like the ending.”
Ah, a good ending. So, I watched the rest of the game and enjoyed seeing my team finish the game victorious. It is easier to watch a cliff-hanger when you know the ending is good.
My thoughts returned to the hymn, Because He Lives. One stanza especially touched me.
Because he lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!
This fall I have been studying Revelation with our women’s Bible study. This book describes God’s plan for people living in relationship with Him through Jesus. I know the ending. Hard times may come, but we can have faith to persevere. God has shown us in his Word that Jesus is victorious.
Jesus said, “I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I have conquered the world.” John 16:33 MSG

Yes, because of the resurrection, we will like the ending! Thank you, Carol. #15
I love that song. Thank you for the reminder that the ending is good!
