Today is called Good Friday, but it was also day of incredible suffering. Jesus, who was without sin, was crucified for our sake.
At church this evening, our Pastor read from the 23rd chapter of Luke. This chapter records eye witness accounts of the crucifixion.
And when they came to the place that is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
One of the criminals who were hanged railed at him, saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!”
But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” Luke 23: 33-34a, 39-41
We sang the hymn, When I Survey the Wondrous Cross. This verse has stayed in my mind.
See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down;
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?
Jesus’ sacrificial love for us is the gift we receive on Good Friday. The victory comes with Jesus’ resurrection. Have a joyful Easter celebration!

What a beautiful gift He gave us, Carol, when He offered Himself for our sins.
