Life and Joy in October

The fall season has begun, and in our neighborhood, there are skeletons and graveyards on front lawns. With a sigh I avert my eyes. This early for Halloween? This dark?

I much rather see the flowers that are still blooming. I picked some cosmos to bring inside and arrange in a vase. There was a tiny bud branching off the stem of one flower. I almost trimmed it away. Within a couple days the petals began to release. To my delight it is going to bloom!

There is joy in life. God has created so many wonders that bring us joy.

Later this month there will be a March for Life taking place in a nearby town. I have often participated in the event. The goal is to support mothers and babies.

The truth in the Bible brings peace and joy to my day. God’s word provides guidance for all aspect of life. I am reminded of God’s design for life.

So, God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.
And God blessed them. And God said to them,
“Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it

Genesis 1:27-28a

You make known to me the path of life;
in your presence there is fullness of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Psalm 16:11

Our world is broken. There is sin and death, but God’s word explains his love and his plan of salvation.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6
