Over the years I have become increasingly concerned about the health of children. My son, a close friend’s daughter and my college room-mate’s grandson were all diagnosed with leukemia.
Cancer has gradually increased in children.
Chronic illness in children has increased dramatically since the 1980s. An article in the Journal of American Medical Association addresses this topic. The prevalence of all chronic diseases in children increased from 1988 to 2006 (Van Cleave et al., 2010). This finding coupled with the influence chronic conditions may have during development and into adulthood illustrates the need to better understand prevalence rates among children and adolescents.

When Robert F. Kennedy announced that he was suspending his campaign and supporting Donald Trump for president, he said: “We need to love our kids more than we hate each other.” He wants to see the government make children’s health a priority.
Children are the future. Over the years I have learned the value of a nutritious diet. I have researched health issues and questioned the protocols that are one-size-fits-all. And most of all, I have learned the importance of prayer. I pray for my children and now, grandchildren.
May our sons in their youth
be like plants full grown,
our daughters like corner pillars
cut for the structure of a palace;
may our granaries be full,
providing all kinds of produce;
may our sheep bring forth thousands
and ten thousands in our fields;
may our cattle be heavy with young,
suffering no mishap or failure in bearing;
may there be no cry of distress in our streets!

I have often wondered why we have so many more health problems in children these days. When I was growing up in the 50s and 60s we rarely heard of a child with allergies and other diseases.
It adds stress to parenting. I pray for parents and children.
So important to keep praying for our children and young people, whatever age.
