Coffee on a Fall Morning

As I sip my morning coffee, I can see the autumn leaves of the cherry tree through the kitchen window. The sun is shining and brightens the golden color of the leaves.

My husband and I collaborate on making coffee. I set up the coffee in the evening and my husband brews it in the morning. I love waking up to the scent of coffee. We grind our coffee beans and add a little cardamom and a pinch of salt to the beans. The salt reduces bitterness.

A good cup of coffee is a fine way to start the day, along with a Psalm from the Bible. Recently the mention of trees in Psalm 96 stayed with me. This fall the trees have been especially colorful. I enjoy the rich red and orange colors, along with bright yellow.

Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;
let the sea roar, and all that fills it;
let the field exult, and everything in it!
Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy
before the LORD, for he comes,
for he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness,
and the peoples in his faithfulness.
Psalm 96:11:13

  1. Your trees are lovely! I live in Florida, so we don’t have the amazing fall colors. But it is so refreshing to enjoy the outdoors without hot, humid weather. I enjoyed your psalm. 🙂
