Christmas Gifts and Light

In November I began receiving e-mails for Black Friday sales. Now, in December, the e-mail ads continue. I have spent time scrolling through the catalogue of sale items, looking for gifts.

It is good to give gifts at Christmas, but it is more important to receive God’s gift. God sent Jesus to provide salvation. We celebrate Christmas because of Jesus.

There is a beautiful message in a verse of O Little Town of Bethlehem, written by Phillips Brooks.

O Holy Child of Bethlehem!
Descend to us, we pray;
Cast out our sin, and enter in;
Be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell;
O come to us, abide with us,
Our Lord Emmanuel.

As I hear the news of the day, I see how much we need Jesus! My cactus plants need light so I have placed them in the southern-facing bay window. We need the light of Jesus.

The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. John 1:9

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

  1. I love your Christmas cactus – especially white one 🙂 I have a pink variety and it grows like crazy, but I have never manage to grow the white one.
    Have a lovely time 🙂
