Curiosity and Possibility

We live in a time when it is important to have a positive attitude, despite the divisiveness in our culture. Is it possible to engage in a productive discussion with someone that holds a viewpoint we can’t understand? Perhaps . . .

I am reading a book that encourages curiosity, Faith for the Curious by Mark Matlock. He gives statistics on the younger generation’s interest in spirituality. The book encourages approaching conversation with curiosity. People have many different perspectives. Why do they hold this point of view? What is their back story?

I would like to grow in my ability to listen well and ask good questions.

A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people.  Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth. 2 Timothy 2:25 NLT

  1. Maybe he will come to Christ,
    and maybe he will not.
    Perhaps my time was sacrificed,
but it’s worth all that I’ve got
    to do my given duty
    to the faith I love,
show through my life the beauty
    of the Good Lord above.
    I won’t be preaching brimstone
    to obtain a scared confession.
It has to come with love alone,
    and with positive lesson
    delivered with a warming smile
to show that this is all worthwhile.
