The Flowers of New Mexico

When troubles swirl around, I find some peace and rest in prayer (alone and with family), in the beauty of nature and in time spent with children. The curiosity and joy that children have is infectious.

We have been spending time in New Mexico, visiting our son’s family. Flowers seem to be everywhere. Some flowers are in gardens and some are wild. We hiked in the foothills outside of Albuquerque and saw a scattering of wild flowers among the cacti.

We visited the Botanical Garden and saw abundant roses. I was surprised to see how well the roses flourished in the dry climate of New Mexico!

There were peonies, pansies and irises.

The wonder of our natural world gives joy and refreshes daily life. It is good to find time to reflect on the beauty of God’s creation.

And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Matthew 6:27-29

  1. I love New Mexico and Albuquerque is wonderful – especially the architecture. Your post reminded me of home (Phoenix) and the wonderful spring days of the desert. Thank you! Blessings on your trip. FMF#2
