As a nurse I have worked in labor/delivery units, neonatal intensive care and homebirth. Support for human life is deeply threaded through my experiences. When my son was gravely ill with leukemia, we fought for his life.
To purposely kill new life is shocking to me.
I am saddened when a young woman is in situation where she feels unable to care for a baby. She needs help. Pregnancy care centers offer support. Could the money funded for abortion through Planned Parenthood instead go to support pregnancy and life?
Abortion is a dramatic, painful procedure with risks. The abortion pill has the risk of heavy bleeding, incomplete abortion leading to infection and sometimes death. The abortion pill (mifepristone and misoprostol) can be accessed by mail without a doctor’s assessment of the pregnancy. It is dangerous when the pregnancy is further along than seven weeks.
Two years ago I went to a conference and picked up a book, Everything You Need to Know About Abortion for Teens by Janet Morana.
It is a difficult time to be a teenager. There are confusing messages in our culture. As parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles we need to give gentle guidance and support.
January 19th was Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. I missed it with all the attention on the inauguration. Today the National March for Life takes place in Washington D.C. On March 23, a Pro-Life March takes place in Illinois.
The fear of the LORD leads to life,
and whoever has it rests satisfied;
he will not be visited by harm.
Proverbs 19: 23

What a horrifying topic for a book (Everything You Need to Know About Abortion for Teens by Janet Morana.)
Yes, unfortunately young women need to know what actually happens in an abortion–what happens to their own body as well as the baby–before they choose abortion.
I appreciate this focus on life issues. It’s so easy to lose touch with what’s important in all the noise!
I was able to watch coverage of the speakers at the March for Life on EWTN. Speeches by a Wheaton student and J.D. Vance were excellent–a focus on life, infants, women, families and faith.
