When my children were little, I noticed that their health patterns were different from mine and my siblings when we grew up. More ear infections, more antibiotics, and food sensitivities. I struggled to understand.
I kept journals of the meals I served, looking for the foods that caused gastrointestinal distress. As a family we pursued healthy foods, replacing regular dairy products with goat milk and goat cheese. I removed sugar from the diet and increased fresh fruits and vegetables.
My husband supported the changes because he saw improvement in our children’s health and increased calmness. When my children were older, I worked with a group of doctors that had concerns about vaccines. I began to study the available information.
It is true that chronic disease has risen dramatically in children. Children are prescribed more medications than ever before. There are many factors contributing to this: a diet of processed foods, toxins in the environment, side effects of medications, and a vaccine schedule that advises 16 doses of vaccine in the first year of life.
Because the immune system is immature in the first year of life, can it actually respond to the vaccine which is supposed to stimulate the immune system? How does the hepatitis B vaccine work for an infant that is one day old? Why is it needed? All pregnant women are tested for hepatitis B. If the test is negative how has the infant been exposed? Hepatitis B is transmitted through direct exposure to infected blood or body fluids.
Breastfeeding has many benefits for mother and baby. The infant receives protection from the mother’s immune system. I wonder how well we understand the intricate immune system that God has designed.
Vaccines contain many ingredients. For instance, here are the ingredients in a DTaP vaccine in addition to an inactive virus: aluminum hydroxide, Fenton medium containing a bovine extract, formaldehyde, glutaraldehyde, modified Latham medium derived from bovine casein, modified Stainer-Scholte liquid medium, polysorbate 80 and sodium chloride. You can look up the ingredients in vaccines on this site.
If I could do it over, I would have researched the vaccines sooner. I would have refused some for my older children. I was able to limit the vaccines given to my youngest child.
Vaccines have benefits but they also have side effects and risks. A research study, recently released, compares the health of vaccinated children with unvaccinated children. The conclusion is that vaccinated children have more chronic illness than the unvaccinated. This study was recently presented at a Senate hearing on vaccines. You can find the study here.
On October 3rd the documentary film, An Inconvenient Study, is going to be released.
